Interpreting a Baby’s BMI

A baby’s weight must be monitored regularly until the child is 2 years old. This is because a baby’s weight changes rapidly. It is therefore essential to know that the child is receiving all of the necessary nutritional intake, and is in good health.

The baby’s body mass index can be interpreted using the body build curve which is usually found in their health record. This will tell you if your baby is slightly overweight, normal, or, conversely, too thin.

Of course, we recommend that you make regular follow-up visits to your doctor.
